Kim & Shahbaz on the "Sodoma" set

Project 101, is a corporation funding which allowes young directors to choose between the themes taken from the "darkside" of Oslo. Themes such as prostitution, theft and even drug problems in Oslo. Espen has choosen the theme prostitution, and using his imagination to create a fictional drama around a prostitutes hell...

There will be choosen 10 shortfilms, which will be shown at the cinemas!

We`re looking forward for the results :)

The camera rig

The HVX200 with a 24mm wide angle photo lens.
What we miss is a follow focus and matte box, but they are to damn expensive.

Music score

We are in talks with the italian artist Paolo Vinaccia for the music score. He has previously worked on films such as "the beautiful country", "Budbringeren" (junk mail)and "Kjærlighetens kjøtere". Nothing is confirmed yet. Stay tuned

We`re working on a teaser trailer aswell, which will hit the site soon :)

Another surprise!

The GlideCam Camcrane 200 arrived today.
It will take "Børre" to new heights.

We'll post pictures of the rig as soon as the lenses are bought.

Update!

Today Børre met Barbra for the first time.

While Shahbaz was home plugging the hole in his pipe, a sugar and coffeine rushed
Kim met up with Veslemøy & Morgan to talk about the planned rehersals this month.

With recent dropout's in mind, we are happy to announce that both our stars are still on board. Phew!

Thing will be more fun the next months. A teaser shoot etc.

We're also in talks with some special effects guy's. More details later.

Yeah, that's about it I guess.. sleepy.

Oh, and yeah. We got some cool flyers coming, and finally some business cards to spread around.

Glidecam demo

If you don't know what a Glidecam is, watch this film.
It was shot with a Glidecam 2000 pro with no Smooth Shooter.

We will post our own footage when the rig is balanced properly.

Heeere's Børre!

As mentioned earlier, Morgan Davidsen is the new Børre. He is dedicated and ambitious and will take the character to the level it deserves. We are really excited about all our lead actors.

The camera

This is the camera we will use, fresh out of the box today!

On order right now, is a Redrock 35mm lens adapter that will be attached to the HVX200's lens. We are going for a great look on this no budget film.

Latest updates

We are behind the schedule.

Today we did some much needed rewrites in the script, again, and looked at some showreels.
We will be talking to an actor about the Børre part in a few days.

The movie will most likely be shot with a Panasonic HVX200 camera in DV (can't afford to shoot in HD this time), using a Redrock M2 adapter with various Nikon lenses. More info and pictures of the rig when we got it.

There's about 29 pages left of the script to storyboard.
We'll try to get back on schedule, and have some more news for you, preferably good, later.

This week

The past week has been spent mostly drawing at the storyboard.
We are now working at page 66 in the script, 29 pages to go.

Thursday we met up with Thomas Christensen to talk more about his character, discuss some issues regarding the script etc.

Friday we had two more chats with Veslemøy Mørkrid (Barbra)and Eirik Norderud (Dr. Kronenberg).
We discussed their parts and gave them some more information regarding principal photograpy, costumes etc.
Veslemøy had some good tips for us regarding how actors think, and how they get into their roles. Very usefull.
Eirik had good ideas regarding his characters look and dialogue.

Look out for Veslemøy in the comedy "Høy på Landet" in the Usett series at NRK in November. We'll post details later.

Some scenes look different, sometimes "nastier" written, than what we really are after, so we brought the storyboard to
show what we really are after. We don't want to scare anyone away from us :)

We will do some more editing in the script. Some scenes and dialogue is to internal, and will have to go.
There would maybe be ten people laughing, and the rest would only be put off by it.

Some scenes will also change places in the script.

We are getting closer each day.

some news

After Pål dropped out the project, Kim and i had a lot of thinking to do. Finally it looks like we`ve found his replacement. But nothing confirmed yet. Most likely next week we`ll know.

Storyboard is going great, we are happy to announce that we have finished drawing 2 murderscenes :) We should complete the drawings within two weeks, which mean hard work.

CSI #1

The part of CSI #1 has gone to Panko Nero.

You may remember him for the movie Street Law aka Cop Justice where he played Hutch Cassidy for the first time. "A ruthless cop with bourbon on his breath, infiltrating a gang of gay liberal dope dealers. Killing them off one by one."

A hit exploitation cop thriller in 1974, later marked as a so called video nasty in the early eighties. Currently only available on obscure Greek VHS tapes. Panko, we are proud to say, has a cameo as a crimescene investigator in our movie.

We are currently making a deal with the infamous Luci Fluci as the other CSI.

Påls replacement needed

As mentioned Pål Grinden has dropped out of the project, and we need to replace him.

The one we`re looking for is a male around 30yrs old with curly hair. If you`re the one, don`t hesitate!! Send us mail including mini-bio and a photo of yourself.

Please keep in mind that this project is a 0-budget project, so there will not be any fees, atleast not at this stage. Everyone involved in this project are doing this to get more experience and fun.

No Børre!

Pål Grinden has backed out of the movie due to personal reasons, and a rising musical career.
That means we have no one to play the title character of Børre. Not yet anyway. We'll have to deal with that and wish Pål good luck in the future. Maybe we'll get him to do a cameo or some music instead.

The search go on. The website will undergo a little modification. Pål must be removed from the design etc.

Børre - The Documentary

Today was the first day of shooting for the Behind the Scenes documentary.
Maida Hals is responsible for the making, and she interviewed us for an hour with questions about the projects early stages. She also shot some footage of us drawing scene 102 of the storyboard.

The documentary will focus on every aspect of the production, the beginning, the middle and the end. Maybe somebody else with ambitions of making a no-budget movie, will learn something from watching it. We hope so! We think Maida will do a good job, and we will not interfere with the production of it. The documentary will also feature interviews etc. with other crew members an actors.

It will be included on the DVD and we may publish clips from it on the website later.

New storyboard artist

While taking a break from the duties of drawing, Kim's Bullterrier Huldra came to the rescue.
She wanted to help her daddy make his deadline. Only one drawback though; what she possess of ambition, she lacks in talent. Well, thank's anyway little Bull Terror :)

Assistant Director

Espen Gjerde has signed on to be our First Assistance Director. He will take a load of our shoulders and contribute with his skills.

The CGI team

Neuglaz (Eirik Kirkaune & Lars Sørli) has joined our crew in the CGI department.
They will create the main title sequence and some visual effects in the movie.

Some of their previous projects include visuals for NRK (Norwegian Broadcast Corporation).

We're looking forward to work with them.

Early demo soundtrack

Johnny Withnail Gonzales arranged a preview of his first recordings for the "Børre" soundtrack at Hi-Fi Center Kjeden in Oslo.
The demo contained 12 tracks of various themes.

At this stage the tracks are roughly done, but pretty good considering he's only read the synopsis of the film. We will listen to the tracks again, and make suggestions regarding changes when principle shooting is done.

The Børre "prequels" are up!

You can now take a peek at what started it all!

"The Interrogation" - Børre's first appearance, and
"The Man with the Bag" - The Man with the Bag's first appearance.

"Børre - The Movie" is loosely based on those two characters, Børre and The Man..

Both film's where made early in 1995 and shot on Hi8 and BetaSP.
Transfer is from eleven year old VHS tapes, so they're not perfect.
Be patient if you have a slow connection.

Summer vacations

Due to summer vacations, KalkunRegimet took a break. Shahbaz exploring the mountains while Kim exploring his telly :) That explains the lack of updates regarding our production of Børre -the movie.
As for now, we`re back in business from monday. Stay tuned!

Veslemøy + the script = Barbra

We met up with Veslemøy (Barbra) again today
and gave her the script, talked about the project.
She will be reading it this week and give us some
feedback later. Test readings will begin when
the summer holidays are thru. That will be exciting!

We think she'll do a great Barbra!

Animation

In a couple of weeks we will talk to the guys at neuglaz.com about doing some animation/CGI work for us, the KalkunRegimet logo etc. More on that later.

Script completed

Woohaaa!

We are done with the screenplay, and it looks good! So now we can put it away for a while and focus strictly on the storyboard, which is going to take some time. The proper work on storyboard will start on monday. For now the script is officially completed!

Sore fingers!

As you know, we're working on the storyboard among other things. The two of us get together and try to figure out every scene. The composition, the camera moves, where the focus should be and what the characters will be doing/saying in each shot etc.

After making rough scetches, Kim tries to redraw everything a little nicer. A painstaking experience! Drawing everything all over. It's slow work, and there is a lot to do But in the end we'll have ourself a nice thick comic book of storyboards. Every shot in every scene ready to go. We wont regret it.

But damn, it's hard!

Barbra found!

We are very happy to announce that Veslemøy Mørkrid has been casted as our female lead Barbra. We`re looking forward to work with her.

We still need to fill some small roles, but as for now we got a few to choose between.

Interesting meeting today

We met up with Morgan Davidsen today at The Broker.He is an actor/film maker with education/experience from the american television/movie industry. He had some great advice for us concerning acting, and directing actors. How to audition, test shoot dialogue etc. He also gave us some new ideas concerning the "Børre" character.

We'll pass him the script next week and talk to him some more later. More about him and what he can help us out with later.

We did no more work today. Have a nice weekend!

Rewrites

We have som major rewrites to do. After we decided to drop the "Ida" character, we encountered some problems. We had to change some transitions and find different places for another character to appear. Luckily, while doing this, we also discovered some plot faults at other places. We have most of them figured out and we'll probably be done by Monday or Tuesday next week.
The sad part is that we had to drop some great visual scenes. But they just did'nt work out with the rest of the story. We still have a lot of great visual sequences though.
We're going for a really great audio/visual experience on this movie.Besides a great story, amazing actin, music etc. Yeah, we're ambitious!

In the middle of writing we met, as mentioned yesterday, an actress considered for the part of "Barbra". We have a few to decide among, but we'll make a decition this weekend. It will be our secret until posted. Stay tuned!

New look for the menu screen

Since the previous screen was based on a scene featuring the now deleted "Ida" character, we decided to change it.
Instead, you now have Børre staring sceptically at you while you decide where to go. Enjoy!

Todays talk

As mentioned yesterday, we had a talk with Turid at mediefabrikken today.

She had some comments on the script, and we decided as mentioned, to drop the Ida character from the story. Tomorrow we have som major rewrites to do. Though the character only appears in three scenes, we will need to change or drop, some other scenes. We'll figure it out and have the script ready in a few days.

Turid was really helpfull and she offered us some very good and much needed help along the way. We will get back to her when we have finished the storyboards, and talk about what to do next. Thanks so far Turid!

Tomorrow we will meet an actress at Parkteateret and talk about the Barbra part. We'll keep you posted!

IDA dropped from the script!

Yeah, that's right! We have decided to drop IDA from our script. The role did'nt fit in at all. The character had nothing to do with the rest, and it kinda distracted the other characters. It was a hard decision, but it had to be done. We had som cool, really cool, scenes with the IDA character in the script, even in the storyboard. Sad, but true.

As usual there are some decisions to be made during the whole process, and we have decided.

Okay, so we have been a little slow in keeping you up to date in the pashttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gift few weeks.

The same day we cast Thomas Christensen for the part of "M.M.B.", we also interviewed two people for the crew.
We will give you their names when we decide if we go with them or not, and after we decide their exact part in the crew.
One of them was really interessted in being an assistant director, or script, production assistant. He had some experience from short movies, and also a feature lenght film. The other is a costume designer/interior desighttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gifner with experience from the theatre etc. She had some really inspiring works to show us a week later.

Last Monday we met Øystein Rabbe. He has knowledge about Adobe After Effects, and he will do some test graphics later to show us what magic he can do with some "simple" CGI. The movie won't hav a lot of it. We'll meet him later, when we have shot some test footage involving a shotgun and a coin. We have posted some pics of the shotgun for those of you interested in firearms.

Pictures/info of more crew members will be posted soon.

Tomorrow we will talk about the script with Turid Marthinsen at Mediefabrikken, and then we will finish writing the final draft of the script. Phew!
Everybody involved so far will finally get a fresh copy. More information about how the meeting went will be posted later this week.

Johnny Withnail Gonzales was in the studio this weekend, recording some music. We will take a listen to that later.
Freddy Groth, nephew of well known norwegian musician Jan Groth, will also try to compose some music in July, after reading the script.

We also got contacted by an actor with a lot of experience from american television among other things. He even had a role in the hit tv series Six Feet Under. We will talk to him later and see what he can help us with. Unfortinately we do'nt have a part that fits him. We'll see what happens. Also, this week, we had a little setback. An actress (Izzat mm.) we where auditioning for the part of Barbra, the leading lady, got a better offer. A paid offer. She looked very good for the part, and we had a good feeling about her. Well, we don't blame her for taking the other job and wish her the best of luck! Maybe next time. We will possibly meet another actress later this week.

Regards to Carl B. Elmore Jr. for taking further interest in the movie. That's appreciated deeply. We'll get back to you.

MMB update

Here's a picture of Thomas Christensen who has been hired to play the role of "MMB".
An important and demanding role. He'll pull it of. His first uformal audition went extreamly well!

He has previous acting experience from movies, commercials and theatre.

The schedule

We got a busy schedule ahead of us these days... starting off today with interviews for different sections, such as crew and castings. Later this month we`ll have a meeting with a consulant regarding the film itself. We both are looking forward to the meeting.

Down by the river

Kim and his nutty little dog went looking at some possible locations this weekend. They found a really nice spot by the river

Barbra needed!

Currently we`re looking for a norwegian female who can portray our character Barbra, she`s our lead female of approax 25 yrs old, a character whom Børre falls in love with. She`s drop dead gorgeous.

If you`re the one, please don`t hesitate and email us.
It's a big part and demands some acting experience.

Final draft!

The final draft of the script got finished today! 97 pages!
Okay, we'll probably change something during the shoot, or sooner.
But as for now, it's done.

Storyboarding scene 33

Finally, summer is here!

While everyone else is lazy, just frying they're winterpale skin in the sun, we draw ;)

Todays biggest challenge was to snap the photos. Our arms just did'nt reach far enough, and this was one of the "best" shots. At least we thought it turned out pretty funny.

Scene 33, one of the longest most detailed scenes in the movie, is almost done.

We got some CV's from people today. We'll look at them later. We're exited about that.

New video clip!

We just added a new video clip featuring pics and video from some of the places we got as locations. There's plenty of places we still have to find, but we'll add them to the video as soon as we got them.

Finally the snow is melting and everything's blossoming. Later we'll have to get back to some of the places we've only seen in the winter.

Camouflaged location hunt

Our "super-secret" project is getting more and more locations each day. Kim does not want any attention from the locals, so it`s very important for him to keep a low profile, that`s why he is Camouflaged!

In the woods

We did some hiking in the woods in Rælingen today.

Maybe we will use some of the surroundings in the film.
Shahbaz found something interesting in the water.
A baby doll maybe? (not to worry, you'll get it later)

Shahbaz almost fooled Kim into jumping unto a flat rock
in the water. Turned out to be some dirty piece of a rotten
wooden board.. that would have been cold! Brr.

We met "Børre"

We had a meeting with Pål Grinden today, in Lillestrøm.
It went really well and he's looking forward to the role.
We also snapped some new photo's to use for promotion material.

We`ve just met our co-star Eirik Norderud, and delivered him the screenplay. As you know he will portray the role of Dr. Kronenberg. We talked about the project, and we are looking forward to work with him.



At this stage we are working on promo t-shirts and not to mention the storyboard.

Monday next week we are scheduled to meet our lead for BØRRE, Pål Grinden.

The storyboard

Today we started to draw the storyboard.
We scetched the first two scenes of the movie
and ended up with about 50 shots.

We have another 220 scenes in the movie, so there
will be plenty of drawing in the next few weeks.

Luckily we have no preassure yet.
We will post some of the storyboard in the
images section in the near future.

Here's finally a picture of

Synopsis

We have finally written a synopsis of the plot.
It was actually much harder than writing the screenplay.

Remember the old one? It was more like a bad tagline.
We think it's pretty cool so here we go!

A serial killer movie with a twist.

Børre is lonely. He scratches his balls. He smokes pot. He loves porn.
He hates his boss!
There is a killer on the loose. Their paths will cross ..

2nd draft done.. for real!

OK, so we needed some more time to flesh it out but now it's done.
We ended up with 90 pages. It fits the 1 page=1 minute formula pretty well, but of course,
some pages are maybe more like 5-6 minuttes of film, while others are about 30 seconds.

All in all, we have ourself a movie! :)

We got some help on the swedish dialogue, and now we are going to pass the draft around to some people.
Our girlfriends, an author, some of the actors etc. to get opinions, and add them to the 3rd and final draft.
If we agree that is.

Tomorrow we are going to look for some locations featuring the subway, subway stations and more.
We will of course post pictures.

Next week we start with the storyboard.

2nd draft done!

Well, second draft of "BØRRE" is done. We have been fleshing out the main characters, and given them more personality.

First draft finished!

It's 83 pages total!

We're taking the week of to look at it individually.
When we meet again we'll start writing the second draft.
Hard work on the dialogue, fix the spelling and try to make
it even better.

Actually we're pretty satisfied and proud!

This church will probably be featured somewhere in the movie.
We're supposed to go looking for external locations as soon as the snow is gone. But so far it has'nt stopped snowing, dammit!
